A Church that Exists for the Sake of the World
I. Bachelor of Theology and II. Diploma in Theology
The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary still maintains its core program that’s designed for training pastors and church leaders. Hundreds of leaders from around the Middle East and North Africa have graduated from our program and have become pastors, church planters, evangelists, and Christian workers with an effective and vibrant witness in their respective communities.
But even with this successful program we have been introducing major changes. We have started to think differently at the way we prepare our students. We are now intentional about having ABC objectives for every course we offer and every activity our students get involved in. ABC stands for Affective, Behavioral, and Cognitive. We are interested in the spiritual formation of the students, in having them acquire new skills in ministry, as well as in the theoretical and informational aspect of their education. The objective of our program is not only information but more importantly formation.
III. Master of Divinity
Effective the academic year 2007-2008, ABTS is offering a new Master of Divinity (MDiv) program that aims to prepare students for vocational Christian ministry in church and mission, as well as Christian leadership by offering a balanced and complete professional degree, equipping each student to deal clearly with biblical, theological and practical issues over the long run of his or her life and ministry.
Our next challenge is to develop a program that equips Christian leaders for the workplace. This will become our missional program where students will get a better sense of their vocation and calling, and where they will learn to understand their culture in order to make the message of the Gospel relevant to the people. This will be the most important program in training the masses to impact our region for Christ. We are paving the way to this program by holding seminars, lectures, and other activities that aim to challenge our church communities with missional characteristics and practices.
