The Online Certificate in Ministry, is an Arabic-language program that provides biblical-theological formation and ministry training that is contextually relevant for the Arab World. The degree requires 14 core courses, 3 elective courses, and a non-formal component including mentoring and written theological reflections. Courses include Church History in the Middle East, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Biblical Interpretation, Surveys of the Old Testament and the New Testament, Effective Bible Teaching, and Small Groups for Church Expansion. In addition, ABTS works with regional church leaders to select a mentor for each student. This mentor encourages the student in his or her spiritual and academic progress.

In each course, students are divided into groups and facilitated by a tutor. Students study the lesson content, engage with classmates and the tutor, and interact with online learning activities such as quizzes, case studies, forums, and writing assignments.

Courses and credits | Courses offered by ABTS-Online are worth 3 credit hours. Students working towards the Certificate of Ministry will need to complete 60 credits: 42 credits (14 courses) are compulsory coursework, 9 credits are earned through mentoring sessions, and the final 9 credits can be earned by taking elective courses (3 courses) or doing a ministry practicum. Students can take elective courses only after successfully completing 3 compulsory courses. Each term offers a minimum of 2 courses. Courses are composed of 10 sessions and run for a term period of 10 weeks. Taking a full-time schedule of 3 courses per term, a student can graduate in 16 months. Students have up to 6 years to complete all required courses.

Growing in God | Spiritual formation is an important component of ABTS-Online. ABTS will make every effort to partner with churches in the region to nominate a mentor from the churches for each student. ABTS Alumni can serve as substitute mentors if no local church leader is available. Moreover, a tutor will follow up with the students’ spiritual and academic progress.
